



As a young aspiring chef I lived and worked in Barcelona in 1998. I loved the job I randomly found as a cook/assistant for a woman who ran a small working-class neighborhood bar in the Barceloneta neighborhood, because I would work 6am-2pm, eat well during the day, and that would leave me plenty of time afterwards to lay on the beach all afternoon and enough fuel to party at night.
